META Foundation Launches Governance Dialogue Series in Five Districts
META Foundation has launched a Governance Dialogue Series across five districts in the Upper East Region, bringing together traditional authorities, district assembly members, unit committee representatives, and youth advocacy groups. The quarterly forums create a structured space for citizens to engage duty-bearers on local development priorities, budget transparency, and service delivery.
The inaugural sessions, held in Bolgatanga, Bongo, Talensi, Kassena-Nankana East, and Kassena-Nankana West, drew a combined attendance of over 600 participants. Key issues raised included delays in completing school infrastructure projects, inadequate health staffing at community clinics, and the need for more inclusive participation of women and young people in local planning processes.
District Chief Executives who attended pledged to publish simplified versions of their annual budgets and hold open community forums before finalising development plans. META Foundation will document outcomes and follow up on commitments at each subsequent dialogue session, creating an accountability loop that citizens can rely on.
